About the Event

We are so very excited that new in 2024 LAGC member Andria has offered her home and gardens for our annual  Potluck and Member's Garden tour!

Andria Shared: My love for gardening started at a young age,  I would grow Zinnias for the local 4H fair.  Those Zinnias took me to the state fair and won plenty of ribbons too!  Eventually I convinced my dad to dig up the yard and put in a vegetable garden as well.  I have grown flowers and veggies at every house I have lived in until we moved to Minnesota 4 years ago…no veggies here, just flowers and herbs.  My focus is always on natives and pollinator habitats.  When we moved here my main focus was on clearing out overgrowth and adding in lots of pollinator plants.  I started at the front of the house and have been working my way around.  Our home sits on almost 2 acres with a lot of beds so it is the never ending project.  My husband loves water features so we added in waterfalls, a babbling brook and a bubbling boulder.  The birds love them all, especially when our summer temps are peaking.  My other main focus has been the native prairie habitat that spans the front of our property.  Each year we mow it down and throw out more seeds in hopes of getting more blooms and less invasive weeds.  A controlled burn would be the ideal solution but I can never get the weather to cooperate.  Our “prairie ditch” is home to 100s of Monarchs each year as they migrate!!  The rest of the property is home to a lot of coniferous trees and shrubs (with native blooms coming soon). smaller than postage stamp yard with its crappy rocky clay soil has a steep incline which  ends up in a greener than green street runoff pond .  Luckily the overgrown brush and bramble were the only thing holding the hill in place .  With this as a starting point I began using unconventional methods and materials - to transform every  unusual inch into my little slice of Heaven .  If it is nothing else it is interesting — and truly mine .   I can’t wait to share it with the group!

**Make sure to bring your own chair and consider carpooling to cut down on the number of cars needing to park in Andria's neighborhood.  Andria's address will be privately shared only with members in our monthly newsletter, Monday Peeks, and on our private FB group.**
