About the Event

Due to ongoing Covid concerns, our September meeting will be online and will utilize the Zoom app as we did for the May "Strawbale" Presentaiton.  A week before the event all members will get emailed the Zoom meeting invite.  Thank you for your patience during this time of uncertainty.   We would love to get together face to face and we miss each and every one of you.  However, at this time, Club leadership believes we do need to keep our social distancing and a Zoom meeting will allow us to continue to enjoy our speakers and interact with one another safely.

Deans presentation is describes as the following: At the end of the summer season, most gardeners are winding down their gardening activities and thinking about fall.  Dakota County Master Gardener Dean Davis, however,  is busy "putting his garden to bed."  Join Dean as he discusses important end of season tasks that will  not only prepare your garden for its restful slumber but ensure a more productive and succesful spring season next year.  His presentation will cover:

 - Closing down your grass gardens

 - Packing-up your vegetable/fruit gardens

 - Powering down your annual flower gardens

 - Dividing up the perennial gardens

 - Putting the pottery and art objects to bed

 - Final issues and some answers

 - Planting a color pot of spring bulbs for spring 2021

Dean grew up on a small dairy farm in West Central MN.  He left the farm and became an elementary teacher. He began gardening in Apple Valley and has never  stopped.  He has a .5 acre plot that contains hundreds of hostas, many clematis vines, a large rain garden, and over 300 lilies.

Our club plans  to possbily tour Deans garden in July 2021.

Hostesses in Spirit:  Susan Anderson, Carol Poch, Delaine Phillips and Martha Erickson.
